Microdosing with Psilocybin: A Gentle Introduction to Natural Medicine
You are interested in psilocybin, but you are not sure you are ready for a larger journey—or ready to commit to spending a full day journeying.
That is completely understandable.

For some people, microdosing offers a gentler way to enter the world of natural medicine. It can provide an opportunity to develop a relationship with mushrooms, become familiar with how they interact with your body, mind, and emotions, and explore what may be possible before deciding whether a larger journey feels right for you.
What Is Microdosing?
Microdosing involves taking a subperceptual amount of psilocybin—a very small amount intended not to produce a full psychedelic experience or interfere with your ability to move through your normal day.
“Subperceptual” does not necessarily mean that you feel absolutely nothing. You may notice subtle shifts in your mood, awareness, energy, creativity, intuition, or emotional responses, but you should not feel as though you are having a psychedelic journey.
Different mushroom varieties, such as Golden Teacher, Enigma, and others, can feel different and vary considerably in potency. The amount, variety, timing, setting, and individual person can all influence the experience.
Some people describe feeling:
More present and emotionally open
Less caught in repetitive thoughts
More aware of habitual reactions
More creative and open to new ideas
More connected to their intuition
Kinder toward themselves
More connected to their bodies
Better able to pause before responding
These shifts are often quiet. Microdosing is not necessarily about feeling dramatically different. It may be about noticing that you responded differently during a difficult conversation, trusted your intuition, approached a problem more creatively, or spoke to yourself with slightly more compassion.
Over time, small shifts can become meaningful changes.
How Can Microdosing Be Used?
Microdosing can be explored on its own, before a larger journey, or as part of continued integration afterward.
For someone who is curious but hesitant, it may provide a gentle introduction to psilocybin and help them become more familiar with the medicine.
Before a larger journey, microdosing can help clarify intentions and identify themes that may need attention. After a larger journey, it may support continued reflection on the insights, emotions, and changes that emerged.
There is no requirement that microdosing must lead to a larger journey. For some people, the subtle nature of microdosing is exactly the relationship with psilocybin they are seeking.
Why Support and Intention Matter
Microdosing can be more meaningful when approached with intention. Working with an experienced therapist or microdosing coach provides support, structure, and an opportunity to connect subtle experiences with the changes you hope to create.
With more than 30 years of experience as a therapist, I bring a clinically informed and deeply personal perspective to this work. I help clients approach natural medicine with curiosity, intention, and greater awareness of what may be unfolding.
What Can You Explore Through Microdosing?
Microdosing work can focus on many areas of your life, depending on your intentions.
One meaningful focus can be your relationship with your body. Many women have spent years criticizing, controlling, judging, or fighting against their bodies. Intentional microdosing work may offer an opportunity to relate to the body with greater curiosity, gratitude, compassion, and partnership.
Microdosing may also help create space around deeply ingrained beliefs such as:
I am not good enough.
I mess everything up.
No one truly loves me.
I can never do anything right.
Instead of automatically accepting these thoughts as facts, you may begin to observe them, question them, and consider a kinder and more balanced perspective.
Others are drawn to microdosing because they want to explore changes in mood, anxious thinking, or emotional reactivity. You may begin to notice a little more space between an emotion and your response—an opportunity to pause, recognize what is happening, and choose how you want to respond.
Some people also notice greater creativity, curiosity, and connection to their intuition. Creativity can mean making art, but it can also mean approaching a familiar problem differently, imagining a new possibility, or recognizing choices that previously felt unavailable.
My Four-Week Guided Microdosing Program
I offer an individualized four-week guided microdosing program for people who want to explore psilocybin in a safe, structured, and intentional way.
The program combines weekly regulated microdosing administration sessions at my licensed healing center in Louisville, Colorado with individual online integration and coaching. Each week, we focus on your personal intentions and explore how the experience may be influencing your thoughts, emotions, body awareness, creativity, relationships, and everyday life.
After four weeks, you may choose to extend the program, continue with your own intentional practice, pause and reflect, or explore a supported low-dose or full psilocybin journey at my licensed healing center.
Microdosing can be a gentle introduction to natural medicine—but gentle does not mean insignificant. Sometimes the most lasting changes begin with a subtle shift, a new question, or one moment in which we choose to respond differently.
The medicine may open a door. Intentional work helps you understand what you find there and carry it into your life.
